Thus, 5-HT2A and 5-HT7 receptors on vascular smooth muscle cells mediate direct vasoconstriction and vasodilation, respectively. Therefore, parasympatholytics are hardly ever used, although a corresponding action is probably exploited in the case of H1 antihistamines, an ingredient of many cold remedies.
